The center will focus on solving problems that affect the society and sustainable development in Saudi Arabia. Our Program fall into four key functional areas:

1. Plant Biotechnology

In the field of agriculture, biotechnology research work will be conducted to produce drought and salt tolerant plants; isolate and characterize plant bioactives for optimal health

2. Animal Biotechnology

Enhance animal disease diagnosis; and implement the technology of molecular markers in animal breeding

3. Food and Nutrition Biotechnology

In Food Biotechnology we are developing novel methods for testing food integrity.

1. Food safety and authenticity.
2. Food Bioactive Utilization.

4. Biomedical

The center will focus on genetic and microbial disease diagnosis and research for new therapeutic avenues for metabolic diseases common in our society. In pharmacy, the center will use biotechnology tools for the production of new drugs as well as the design of novel drug delivery systems to maximize efficacy and minimize toxicity.
